Peggy Dunn Legacy Society
Our aspiration is for any girl with the ability to win a place at Headington Rye Oxford to be able to do so, regardless of parental income, and one of the ways we do this is through legacies.
A gift in your will creates a permanent testimony to your affection for the School, giving you the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the next generation of young women in a way that you may not be able to during your lifetime.
Any supporter who intends to make a legacy gift to Headington Rye Oxford is invited to join the Peggy Dunn Legacy Society. The Society is named after Peggy Dunn, a much-loved Headmistress (1959-1982) who left a substantial bequest in her will for bursaries and scholarships.
Becoming a member of the Society enables the School to recognise your generosity and thank you in person; it also provides an opportunity to meet other members of the Headington Rye Oxford community and keep up to date with the School’s progress and future plans.
We are very grateful to everyone who has chosen to remember the School in their will. Each gift is treated respectfully and used in a way that reflects individual wishes, ensuring it has the most impact on the lives of our pupils.

“I am so grateful for all the opportunities Headington Rye Oxford has given me over the last two years. Not only did its wide range of subject choices allow me to study subjects I never would have thought of (History of Art), but the amazing teaching challenged and pushed me to think and discover more for myself. I am especially grateful for the School's Music Department: at one point I was participating in seven different ensembles weekly. This experience has encouraged me to study music at Cambridge and to work towards a career in performance.”

“Thanks to the School’s generous bursary scheme, I have enjoyed two wonderful years at Headington Rye Sixth Form. The School has given me incredible support through university applications, allowing me to explore a variety of subjects in higher education sessions as well as supporting my application for the course I set my heart on. I have loved the freedom Headington Rye has given me to cultivate particular interests, through opportunities such as a project into medieval bookbinding as part of the Academic Scholars' programme and the chance to give talks and organise visits from academics through the school's Classics and History societies. The School's co-curricular side has also been amazing, where for the first time I have experienced teaching music, collaborating in a small ensemble and performing solo with an orchestra. I can't begin to express my gratitude to Headington Rye and look forward to studying Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Cambridge University.”

“What my years at Headington offered me personally spanned well outside the academic curriculum. The opportunities to ‘have a go’ and ‘step up’ spanned a vast array of activities, from conferences, plays, sports, art and technology to name just a few. I was fortunate to make friends for life, and build a foundation from which to make the most of everything that lay ahead. The Headington ethos of a rounded education was still so evident when I was looking for a School for my own children. I was delighted that they too were able to benefit from all the School has to offer, and I saw the same foundations being built in the next generation.
It was therefore a very simple decision to think about leaving a legacy to the School.
